Flowers from Kitz Farm Wedding July 2016

As if planning a wedding wasn’t stressful enough. Picking out matching color pallets to what food should be offered- gotta make sure you offer that vegetarian dish for that one person on your list. (sorry vegetarians) To add the task of wedding contracts on top- how does one sleep at night?

Personally while planning my perfect wedding with my fiance we have had a few hiccups in our wedding vendor contracts. Now I will not name, names because I am not looking to point a finger but to bring light to the subject. GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING before you sign. One of our contracts was only 1 page long, the size of a normal 8.5 x 11 sheet of printer paper. However the more we dove into the little details of our wedding we found that NONE of this was laid out in the contract. Matt and I booked almost all our vendors a year in advance so when we started to nail down the smaller details it was too close to our wedding date to turn back.

Think of things that are important to you. For example, if your venue only offers 5 hours ask details about what is involved with adding time. What are the requirements of you the couple and what does the venue require. Your photography- is it important for you to get the rights to print your own photos, its that included in your package- if not ask details about how you can get the rights. Once you get clarification on your questions don’t be afraid to ask for an amended contract before signing. There is no worse feeling than being 3 months out from your wedding day and learn that you have to spend thousands of dollars to add something to your contract because you didn’t get it in writing. Learn from our mistakes!
